MY BLOG - SEPTEMBER 2008
September 27th
East Midland Counties - St Andrews 1 v Borrowash Victoria 2
Admission £3.00 - No Programme as guy who does them is on Holiday - Attendance 65 (Head count)
Once again a relatively even fixture was spoilt early on by an over enthusiastic young referee. The St Andrews keeper was sent off after losing his bearings and handling the ball just outside the box. As a neutral I want to see 11 play 11 and on this occasion a yellow card would have been enough. After consulting my Football League Referee chum he informs me that it is not a compulsory red card for an incident like this unless it was pre meditated. After this the St Andrews heads went down for a while and Borrowash soon took a 2 - 0 advantage. After the break St Andrews regrouped and pushed hard for a goal and managed to get one which unfortunately for them was not enough.
I must comment on how good the ground looked especially the pitch, which is in excellent condition and it was nice to see ex Friar Lane manager Clem Dublin back in the thick of things on the st Andrews Coaching team.

FA VASE - KIRBY MUXLOE 1 v WEDNESFIELD 0
Admission £3.00 - Programme £1.00 - Attendance 56.
A perfect afternoon for football and an excellent game to watch, Kirby certainly deserved to win and probably should have had a couple more goals on the scoresheet. The first half was pretty even with both teams enjoying periods of possesion, but after the break Kirby took the game to Wednesfield and got the well earned winner.
Kirby Muxloe are currently erecting a cover behind the far goal, which will be useful on the rainy evenings down Ratby Lane.

The blog is back after a break due mainly to my computer catching a virus and changing all the file extensions, so nothing could be opened. How kind.
